Sukiwa-Otsu Gallery was founded in spring 2006, with the intention to promote Nihonga and to expand the business of Sukiwa Corporation. The Gallery has hosted many successful exhibitions since (see previous exhibitions) and has been acting as a hub for artists around the Kansai area. Otsu city is located 10 km north-east of Kyoto, and has been the centre of many historical events, including the production of "The Story of Genji" by Murasaki Shikibu. There are many prestigious temples and shrines located around this area, and the pristine nature, such as Lake Biwa and Mt.Hiei, attracts many tourists throughout the year.
